Health and Safety

Health and safety is a priority across every Gilbert O’Neill project, with robust procedures, qualified teams and safe systems of work helping us maintain high standards across our sites.

Our Approach to Construction Health and Safety

Our management team is responsible for implementing safe systems of work and maintaining a strong health and safety culture throughout the company. All operatives and employees receive appropriate training and hold the relevant qualifications required to carry out their roles safely and confidently.

We continually review our working practices in line with current legislation and industry requirements. Our workforce is provided with suitable PPE and equipment, while all site personnel receive inductions and safety briefings covering their responsibilities and the tasks being undertaken.

Qualified Teams, Safe Sites and Reliable Equipment

Site operatives hold a minimum CSCS Labourer Card where required, while site supervisors and management personnel hold relevant SMSTS qualifications and receive first aid training. Before work begins, we complete COSHH assessments, implement risk controls and carry out safety inspections as required, helping us manage potential risks to people and the surrounding environment.

We regularly service our plant and equipment, and daily checks form part of our company policy. We also work with leading UK plant and equipment hire companies to access specialist machinery when required, while construction safety advisors support our teams in assessing, implementing and controlling safe working practices across our sites.
